Custom Carrier text help!

Ok so ive looked all around the boards here using search and need a little clarification about custom carrier text, i had a photoshop free trial on this computer that ended a while ago so how can i create my own custom carrier text? And how big does it have to be an how do u make it the right size, and then how do u name it? I've gotten confused on all this when i was looking around so if anyone could clarify thatd be gerat thanks
