Custom icon folder not working

Hello there

I would like to change the icon of one folder with a picture of the logo of a company.

I copy the logo, then click on cmd+i, select the original folder icon and click on cmd+v but the icon is not the logo, just a random placeholder image.

I tried restarting and it is not working.

Am I allowed to change the icon of a folder or is this a bug?

Actually, I found out. You have to open the file and click cmd+c. This is the way.
