I don't understand how you change icons on your computer. I downloaded some icons, but when i went to view them i couldn't. I got them from The Icon Factory. Can someone tell me how to do it?

1. Select the icon you want to change your folder, app or file to.
2. Choose "Get Info" from the File Menu, or click command-I.
3. Click the icon in the upper left of the info window.
4. Choose "Copy" from the Edit menu (or type command-C).
5. Select your folder, app or file on the desktop and "Get Info" for it.
6. Click the icon in the upper left of the info window.
7. Select "Paste" (command-V) from the Edit Menu.

And Bob's your mothers brother. :)

But how do i i see the picture before i change it. I want to be able to see the picture that i'm changing it to.

First unstuff the thing you download from the iconfactory. And then open the folder that appears on your desktop.

Then, open the folder called "the icons" or "osx" or something, and you should see them there in the finder window.

Thats what i do, but when i go to view the actual picture (actually double click on the file to see it) it doesn't show anything.

perhaps you got a bad file. to download from the Iconfactory make sure you click the folder icon for download, which will then need to be unstuffed.

www.interfacelift.com is a great place to find icons as well

are you downloading icontainers by mistake?
to open those you need candybar. to download just the icons you need to click this icon:
icn_osx_go.gif

sorry if i'm stating something completely obvious.

You've probably figured this out by now, but just in case...

When I open up the folder with the icons in it, I see them in the finder window. You don't need to double-click them or anything, they are just all together there, in the finder window. Then, under View-->Show View Options you can adjust the size so you can see them all really big or really small or whatever.
