I'm looking for a way to create a custom keyboard shortcut that performs the equivalent of Command-Tab.

Specifically, I'd like to program something like Command-\ (backslash) to do the same thing as Command-Tab. I've started using the mouse with my left hand because of occasional wrist pains from using the mouse all day at work. Problem is, I'm very used to using Command-Tab to switch between applications and I'd like to be able to have the same capability on the right side of my keyboard so I can keep my hand on the mouse.

I've searched high and low for utilities that will let me create that kind of keyboard shortcut, but I must be using the wrong search terms or something. The keyboard system prefs don't seem to be any help, either. I'm running Leopard/10.5.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

(Yes, I know about Exposé, and no, I don't have a Mighty/Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad I can program for this.)
