I just noticed that unlike in High Sierra, when I double tap on a 'quick look' preview, via space bar, nothing happens, as opposed to the file opening in whichever app as I'm used to - can I somehow change this? nothing in trackpad or finder settings suggests I can, and reader, I'm not happy.

It's yet another "improvement" that actually makes Mac worse. The only reasoning I can see is that you can now select text in text files, and it makes sense that double-clicking inside a text file would apply to text selection. Why it no longer works for any other file type as well is anyone's guess. It's obviously possible to change the behavior dependent on file type, just that Apple's poor excuse of a development team hasn't done so.

Cherish your memories of High Sierra, it's all down hill from here. Straight off the El Cap cliff, honestly. So many things that used to be quick are now just more tedious.
