As far as I know... you don't
It would require a jailbreak
Perhaps in iOS 5, but don't hold your breath
True, but the tethered one is so stable it's not really needed.darnit's a too bad there is no jailbreak out unteethered for ios 4.3 yet...
Without jailbreaking my iphone how can I use my own sounds/music I made as my text alerts sounds?

Those aren't available on the 3GS. God forbid Apple from supporting a product it currently sells & is capable of having additional text tones (i.e. 3GS' hardware isn't an issue for more sounds).
What is wrong with these? Are you serious? They are the worst sounds I've ever heard in my life. It sounds like they watched a cartoon for an hour and stole all their sound effects. I would be embarrassed to have my phone make a choo choo sound in front of a bunch of people... If Tri-Tone did not exist, my phone would not have a text message sound.
calypso is fine. the rest are stupid.
I agree, I work in the world of business and a lot of the tone would be embarrassing to me. Would love to see notifications completely redone in the iPhone 5! Blackberry does have Apple beat here for sure!![]()
Nothing more embarrassing then sitting in a meeting and hearing your phone go CHOOO CHOOO in front of fellow co-workers.
