Custom text tone poor quality

I tried using GarageBand on my iPhone 6S running the latest iOS to create a custom text tone. The tone sounds fine in garageband but I notice that when I set it to my text tone, it is distorted almost like a blown out speaker. I saw old threads about this, but was hoping it would be fixed by now. I have made the tones on my computer before and synced them but was hoping for an easier way. All other tones sounds fine.
