You can use one of your picture from your photo album and display the time and even date on it but that's as far as AW custom faces go ... Unless you work at Hermes or Nike and have access to their special AW face design SDK.
It can but is not easy, advanced computer skills are needed in addition to needing a MAC computer or a virtual machine

Looks promising. From what I read the idea is to create (or more like replicate here) an iOS app that would allow you to customize your AW from your phone. I built a couple apps for my iPhone myself, however the main caveat is that you can only use your own app for a few days for trial purposes. After this period you either need to re-upload your app on your phone as a new build, or publish it on the App Store. Needless to say, aside from Xcode this also requires an Apple dev account, which you can get for free if you're not a publisher.
Everyone can have some official Hermès feeling by loading the "H Break" Game from Hermès. The Start screen of it is kind of an animated watch face - with "Hermès" on the bottom of the screen.
