HI, does anyone know how to customize safari to implement features similar to those pictured here: http://phillryu.com/2006/07/26/fake-leopard-screenshot-contest-winners-better-than-the-real-thing/ especially those from first place winner Eric Patterson?

Looking at the link, I'd love to see most of these features implemented in Leopard... 
But as for your question, isn't this a competition based on "fake screenshots"? I don't think there is a way to "customise" Safari to anything like what you see here.
Then again, I hope I'm wrong, and that someone comes up with the answer

No, there isn't a way. Safari 3 is going to bring some pretty neat features though (but no History thumbnails AFAIK).
