What the....

In order to get my rebate on the HP printer I just bought, Apple wants me to cut (that's right, cut) the UPC label off of my box. They even specify that the "cardboard" must be attached, or it doesn't count.

This may sound AR, but If I paid over $3000 on a top of the line 17" MBP, I should not have to cut up my beautiful new black box.

I like the box... and I don't want rats to have a nice little door to make it a home in my attic!!! And what if I want to sell it in a couple of years...

Again, I know it sounds AR, but this is the stupidest thing I have heard of in a long time.

Perhaps I should cut a hole in my wife's wedding ring box.

Yeah... the box costed $3000... to cut into that box to get a printer is so not worth it.

iwoot, you rock!!! Always look forward to your posts.

Yeah... I paid $3Gs for that box!!!

Think of the design element, the hours, the beauty of it, the smell...

Bee-astards!!!!

My box!!!

No, not the cardboard box! Shame on you Apple! :p :p

(Sent mine in for the iPod Nano rebate)

Yes, the first comment was sarcasm. Its not a big deal.

I threw my MacPro and MBP boxes out after 30 days. I thought they were beautiful, but in the end all they did was take up space. Why look at a picture of such machines when I can actually use them? It's just silly to think that you're desecrating something holy, when in fact all it is is dead, processed tree with 4 colors of ink on it.

I'm trying not to be "insensitive" in saying this, but it needs to be said: get over it. I cut out the UPCs off of all the Macs I bought through the years with the free printer promos. If you want to cover the hole for mice or whatever, take another piece of cardboard and tape it in with packaging tape. That's what I did when I had to send my iMac G4 back in its original box for servicing. If it stood up to the test of going through UPS or FedEX, then it will probably survive in your attic.
