I jailbroke last night on 4.2, and now Cydia is just a plain white icon, and when I tap it, it crashes to springboard.

Help?

yeh I had the same problem, cydia just hasn't been optimised for 4.2 yet.

I think this means you'll have to install stock 4.2 again (or 4.1) and wait until cydia has been updated as there is no way to update cydia without cydia working to start with?

redns0w will jailbreak 4.2 by pointing at 4.1 as the firmware. redsn0w has done this for AGES now with a variety of firmwares.

Since Cydia doesn't work on 4.2 and you will lose your unlock by upgrading its a !@#$@# pointless upgrade for jailbreakers/unlockers.

cydia doesn't work w/ 4.2 yet

MuscleNerd recommends to uncheck cydia when doing a jb w/ 4.2GM until they release the official redsn0w version when 4.2 comes out to the public... The official jb will come this time depending on how fast chwpn and saurik can get cydia running on 4.2...

From Dev Team website:
Update #1: Today Apple released to developers the GM seed for 4.2. Tinkerers will find that yesterday’s redsn0w jailbreaks today’s 4.2 GM seed, simply by pointing redsn0w at the 4.1 IPSW (rather than the 4.2 one). Right now it mostly only makes sense for JB app developers to do that because many apps (including Cydia itself) need to be updated for 4.2. However, if all you want to do is enable afc2 (to use iFunBox or other file browsers), or to tweak settings like Battery % and Homescreen wallpapers, then go for it (if you have valid paid access to the GM seed). Be sure to uncheck the Cydia box, though! Ultrasn0w unlockers should stay very far away from this!!

How did you jailbreak 4.2?

Why bother posting a thread without providing details like this?

So pointless.

As far as I know, there is only ONE way to jailbreak 4.2 at the moment.

This thread is not about how to jailbreak, but about cydia not working. So what exactly is the point of your post?

Thanks guys (most of you anyway :D).

I guess next time I'll pay a little closer attention.
