I was installing My3G and it went into safe mode, restarted and went back into cydia to try and remove it to see if it was causing issues and now there are no installed pkgs, sources anything. Its been trying to download releases and also some Bad URLs in there. Anyone else having troubles or have an idea what the issue might be?

Thanks.

iP4-4.2.1

Have you tried rebooting? Cydia showed up blank for me after upgrading to 4.2.1 and fixed itself after a reboot. The last time that happened to me was with 4.1 and it was a problem with Saurik's servers and Cydia was working fine again after waiting a few hours.

mine is saying this..

NOTE: Cannot Locate Package
The package NSCFString cannot be found in your current sources. I might recommend installing more sources.

This issue may also be caused by a number of other factors. The most common one is that your package catalog is out of date. To manually refresh, click refresh button on the changes tab. This package may simply no longer exist. It is also possible you are using an old firmware version: user should attempt to remain reasonably up to date with Apple's firmware releases.

hmmm

I'm on iPhone 4 JB on 4.01

Just tried to download something from Cydia and got the same message.

So perhaps it isn't a JB issue.

Im getting this aswell, re-JB 3 times, twice from a Blank newly reinstalled IOS.

Can install some apps like SBSettings and BiteSMS but most say:

NOTE: Cannot Locate Package
The package NSCFString cannot be found in your current sources. I might recommend installing more sources.

same here ive jailbroken and restored probably 10 times today and is still says that when i go to install mywi im hoping its just a server issue or something

Works on my wife's 4.1 not on my 4.2.1

This MUST be a greenpoison issue. My wife's phone, jb-en with limerain on 4.1 can load programs from cydia with NO problems but mine on greenpoison 4.2.1 gets the "cannot locate package" message for the same program at the same time. One other glitch I noticed. NONE of the programs I Installed show up under "manage packages". Instead, what shows up under "manage packages" is repos. No I am not pressing the wrong button! No installed packages --only Repos under "manage packages" even though I have several cydia programs (eg winterboard, sbsettings, action menu, etc) installed. None of these are listed.

Hey guys I found this site trying to find a fix to this issue since it was happening to my iPhone 4 after jailbreaking with greenpoisOn 4.2.1 and what I found out was the same as the rest on here. Well I tried it again today and it worked, but what I did this time was actually let cydia sit there for about 2 minutes instead of opening cydia and searching right away. What this did was allow cydia to download releases and download packages and once you see the pop up "Reloading Data" its finishing up that process and then I tried installing MyWi and it went through just fine. Hope this works for you guys.

My buddies iPhone did this after I JB it with GP on 4.2.1. He downloaded biteSMS but during the download/install via Cydia his phone went to sleep. Afterwards, Cydia was screwed - all of the above complains (no sources, packages, and that NSCFString error.

I tried EVERYTHING. Went to Changes and hit refresh, as per the NSCFString error note. Rebooted the phone a dozen times. Deleted all sources via SSH (per other forums ideas). Deleted biteSMS via SSH. I simply tried everything.

Save yourself some time - if this happens, just restore and rejailbreak. Cydia is now up and running perfectly on his phone.

Cheers.
