My cydia on ipad wont turn to landscape mode its always vertical. Is there a way to fix this, not really an important thing lol but it ticks me off xD

Works fine for me on my rMini

With Mobile Substrate not being updated and 64 bit devices can't take advantage of most tweaks, I'd say landscape orientation is probably the least of our worries.
:p

I did an update on Cydia on my old iPad 1st gen (5.1.1) and it will not go into landscape within Cydia anymore, no matter what I try.

They real problem here is that the left side of the screen is cut off and I can’t see everything and I can’t touch all the option buttons anymore.

This is a real problem. WTF are they doing to screw up stuff like this?

what update did you do? maybe it's a tweak you updated that's interfering with cydia

it probably isn't cydia itself or else a lot more people would be complaining about the problem

The updates were presented to me, by Cydia, as critical, important updates to the basic Cydia system itself. It had nothing to do with themes or any tweaks.
It said they were Cydia Substrate and Core Utilities (now at v8.12-12p)

It said that they were critical updates related to Cydia and iOS7 and the latest iPhones and iPads.. Of course I’m locked forever into iOS 5.1.1 because my iPad is a 1st gen v1.0 model so I didn’t need this update.
I gained NOTHING from updating but I did lose functionality.

Cydia now tells me I have Cydia Substrate 0.9.5001

It’s very likely that just as everyone else is doing, they are sh**ing on those of us that want to continue to use old stuff that is still perfectly functional.

Upgrade/replace or die. That’s a bullish*t attitude and way of doing business.

Note, I found out that if I select ANY package and view it’s “about” page then press the button that says “Author” it will slide open a window which does go right into landscape mode. I press the button to return to the about page everything is now in landscape and the rest of Cydia will operate in landscape mode for the remainder of the session. But if I close Cydia to goes back to portrait mode again. Repeating the procedure above does get it temporarily back to landscape.

So as annoying as it is, there is a very clumsy work-around for it.

were those the only two you updated? or did you update anything else?

Just those two packages, it updated them, it said they were critical updates.
After, it needed to respiring and from that point on it was dorked up.

I had only gone in there looking for a way to block ads inside of the official facebook app but the notice that I needed to do these critical updates popped up the very first thing before I could do anything else.

i can confirm that recently the same thing happened to me then i did a complete dfu restore thinking i would never find the problem and cydia was working fine then i got the crucial updates 2 essential 2 non essential before installing any tweaks or apps besides mywi and appvv. and no landscape. uninstalling either app does nothing.. a work around for the missing section of cydia is to close cydia and start it up in portrait mode. it will then not go into landscape mode but it will be fixed to portrait mode and your Field of View will be proper... i have seen this a lot on the internet recently as well after looking. it seems to only be happening to the ios 5.1.1 first and second generation ipad devices.. maybe saurik will notice this and re release the old cydia for 5.1.1 users

He won't know unless someone tells him. If you have a reddit account, that would be the best place to get in touch with him. He seems really active on there
