D-sub connector and Macbook: Need advice

Hi All!

I was thinking to order a 22 inch widescreen which has a D-sub connector to run my macbook in a closed clamshell mode. Is the D-sub connector the same as the VGA??:confused: And what is the adaptor for using the screen on my macbook? I think probably mini-dvi to vga should work...
