Just looking at the activity monitor on my computer and was wondering a couple of things.

ScreenShot2012-02-05at091631.png

1, Are the majority of things listed active or just listed as having been active recently? I know a few will be active as I am doing things on the computer.

2, If active , why are so many active?

3, Can I shut down anything on there and would that make any difference to how the computer runs?

One other thing ( not too related) . To get the picture I screen grabbed, uploaded to photobucket and used the image code from there. Can I add a phot directly from my computer to a posting or do I have to use the way I did it?

Sorry for the daft questions and thanks for any answers.

Cheers

Rory

1) Everything in the list is active.
2) Your computer requires certain processes to run that aren't necessarily visible to the end user.
3) You could try exiting them, but odds are they'd just restart automatically.
4) Click the "Manage Attachments" button to add an image as a file to a post.

Thank you for clear, concise and quick answers.

Where would I find the "Manage Attachments "button?

As you probably guessed I am not the brightest knife in the box when it comes to computers:D

If it's on Activity Monitor, it's active.

Many of those processes are related to your Mac's operating system. It's perfectly normal.

If you don't know what a process is, it's best not to quit them.
