Daisy chain non thunderbolt, can I? RMbp 2013

I have a retina mbp 13inch
I have a dell u2713h which is connected via display port and I want to get another monitor but I don't want to mirror the screen I would prefer extended desktop now Cam anyone tell me if it will work before I Invest because I have been reading different opinions that it will only extend on thunderbolt connection etc

Is there a way of doing it?

You can add another screen on either the thunderbolt or the HDMI.

ah is there no way around it? i already have a 27 inch dell (non tb) and i would like another monitor....

do you reckon apple will fix this for the display port to daisy chain?

I don't undestand the question... As before...

You can buy another monitor with thunderbolt and daisy chain to your current monitor if the thunderbolt monitor has 2 thunderbolt ports, i think, you'll have to google that. Apple doesn't reccomend this as far as I can tell

Or you can just plug another monitor into your second thunderbolt port or your HDMI port....

if i plug another monitor into the hdmi port, would it allow me to do the extend mode will it? it will just mirror my screenn

so it will extend the display (rahter then mirror) as shown in video above...


at the moment the dell u2713h is hooked up by mini dp

and i will probably use a hdmi for the other monitor
