Damaged CD; How to copy the intact portion of a damaged file?

I have a CD that is damaged and when I copy a file over to my hard disk it gets half way through copying, reports an error and then NONE of the file appears on my hard disk. How do I get the undamaged parts of the file copied over? I have par files to repair the damage if I can get the intact portions copied to my hard disk.
 
Perhaps try opening the files directly from within TextEdit. See if it will read the data up to at least the point where the damage begins.
