iPod Damaged itune library? - Help

My I tune had appeared 'damaged' today,
It deleted itself, all songs and all playlists
I've managed to drag them back from 'music' but I've lost all paylists
and i dont know if I lost deta.

why did it happen?
shall I delete the Dmaged one?
did I loose songs?
how can I check what had been lost?
how could I get back my playlists?

any help would be REALLY REALLY usefull!!!!

For Windows User:
Open the itunes library folder -> Open 'Previous iTunes Libraries' folder -> copy the latest itunes library to the subfolder an renamed 'iTunes Library' -> open itunes -> Import all your songs again
but you will still lose some playlists

I had this preoblem when i used itunes 6.0.0, but since i updated to 6.0.1 this does not happen.
