Someone I know in a nursing home dropped their MacBook on the floor from the bed. A few keys fell off the keyboard, and the unit will not close. Screen is fine. Computer is working well, but the keyboard is messed up. Can the keyboard be replaced, and what do you guess the repair would cost? Thanks.

Replacing the keyboard will likely be expensive, as the keyboard is part of the upper case. Take it to Apple and see what they say. They may/may not be able to put the keys back on the keyboard... if not, you may be looking at a pricey repair.

The ifixit.com site has a repair guide for replacing keyboard keys:

let's not assume just yet that this is a retina macbook.
