Both have the same internals. For me here are the pros and cons

Pros for mini
- Higher pixel density, I'm a pixel whore so this really tickles my pickle
- as powerful as the air
- thinner lighter and more portable

Pros for air
- bigger screen, maybe it's easier on the eyes
- I feel like it'll make more sense getting the larger iPad since I have an iPhone if I want to go to there smaller screen

Cons for mini
- don't want to be squinting, not sure if this will be a problem
- again, not sure if it makes sense to get the smaller iPad when I have an iPhone. Not even sure if this reasoning makes sense to me but it's a nagging deciding factor for me

Cons for air
- why didn't they make it more powerful and more future proof with better specs and battery life than the mini?
- have a suspicion it will get an update fairly quickly to the A7X

Highlighted is the main reason to get the Air. And its a bit smaller/lighter as well that you did not mention.

We also don't know if it's the same processor speed in the mini Retina as in the Air. It may be a lower-clocked version of the A7.

Really interested in this bit right here. Will GPU performance be the same? I am dying to get back to iPad quality graphics performance in games.

Not over the mini. I'm trying to measure the pros and cons over each other, not previous generations.

Yeah, you're right. Migraines have always been a problem for me so I'm wondering if the air might be the way to go.

Already have a Mini but with cellular. Upgrading it not worth the cost to me personally.

I rather spend on the new Air. So then I have one big and one small. :D

Correct, not over the mini, but now that the full size one is thinner/lighter, than that is a plus in my view ;)

Many severely undecided people in the days to follow.

at least there's a couple weeks between releases.

I figure, if you can hold out two weeks after the Air is released then you are a good candidate for a Mini :)

They opted to make it lighter instead.

I doubt that they will get an A7X chip. its powerfull enough to drive a retina display, so they made it lighter instead to preserve battery life.

I think its a great idea to make it lighter! this was the single point that made me go for a mini last time!

Delaying the Mini a bit will help reduce cannibalization IMHO. You know how some folks gotta have the latest and greatest ASAP so the IPAD AIR is going to rule!!
