I'm considering going from an iPhone X to an 11. The main reason is I am running out of storage space on my 64 gig X and the 128 11 seems like the storage sweet spot.

By and large I can live with the screen differences. The one thing I keep going back and forth on is Dark Mode. From what I can tell the difference is probably similar to how native Dark Mode apps look vs. non-native apps where it's more of a 'dark gray' background than a true black.

Is that pretty accurate? The true black looks really good. But I don't know if I'd consider it worth $400 good. I don't consume a lot of video content on my phone, so the other differences in the display are not a big deal...

OLED “seems” good according to a lot of people, but at least for me, there is no “dealbreaker” advantage that I cannot live without. Sure, color is more vivid, and more accurate, hopefully. Also the brightness might be a bit better. But, I don’t miss OLED that much if LCD can give me the same resolution anyway.

Regarding the dark mode, Apple’s dark mode is more grey than true dark or pure black. So the power saving on OLED is not that tangible in my opinion, as I don’t see a crazy battery life on my iPhone XS Max in dark mode.

Ultimately, you have to make your own call and weight the pros and cons yourself.

The main advantage of having a dark mode on the OLED screen is to lower power consumption.
An LCD's power consumption will not change by changing its display color to black.

11 has many improved components you may want to take advantage of at relative decent price. Since the screen difference isn’t your main deal breaker, go with the 11. You may lose out on the vivid colors and pure/deeper blacks but you may gain a longer battery life. If you believe $400 doesn’t justify the OLED screen, get the LCD. You can also consider the XS but it won’t be much of an upgrade from the X.

I think my battery lasts less on my xs max than my previous 8 plus. Dark mode hasn’t made any difference even though so many people claimed it would make it more efficient.

oled isn’t a must have for me.

Consider also size... the 11 is taller and wider, on paper is not a big deal, on person (for me) is a deal breaker.

Also is weight, but this year they are too close (11 194g and 11Pro 188g).

I'm an LCD guy so I am biased but Dark Mode looks great on my 7+ and no issues going from dark mode apps to those that aren't.

I am so picky about having true blacks. My iPhone 11 Pro Max is the only phone I’ve owned where I can use a solid black wall paper and it always looks PITCH BLACK no matter the brightness.. No lcd light glowing, no light bleeding, no uneven IPS glow in the corners. Amoled is awesome!

I really like Apple LCD’s but they cannot display real black.

other than that they are fine!
