Dark on Light Notifications: Hard to Read!

I love iOS 10, but I wish there was a way to return to having light-coloured text on a dark background, as they're less intrusive and much better to read at a glance, than the dark text on light background we currently have.
Is there a way to change this?

Apple hasn't really provided otpitons for these types of things.
