I have a 13" 2011 MacBook Pro which I bought from the Regent Street Apple Store about 5 months ago. About a week ago, I noticed a dark smudge almost right in the middle of the screen. It seems to be behind the screen as it won't come off but I definitely haven't dropped it or pressed the screen or done anything else that could damage it. It's not massively prominent but it's definitely very noticeable (especially on a light background) and it's become really distracting now as I do a lot of graphic design and photography work on my laptop.

Is there anything I can do apart from pay loads of money for a new lid/screen or whatever? I bought the whole extended applecare deal with the laptop so I'm hoping that would cover it? Otherwise, what would you do?

The attached picture doesn't really do it justice but you can still make it out.

Thank you.
