The mindset manifests in many forms, but what it boils down to is this: a sense of entitlement that users should be able to do unsupported things and yet still be supported. That it makes no sense to expect support after taking unsupported actions is why Ive found it baffling.
The point isnt that you shouldnt hack, or that you dont have the right to do whatever you want with something you own. The point is that if you hack, youre on your own. You cant do unsupported things and expect to be supported for them just because you think these actions should be supported. Its that simple.
