dashboard not working in snow lepoard

I've got the same problem, I'm running 10.6.1 - I've been looking around and my problem seems to be the same as the one found here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1221030&start=0&tstart=0
I changed the parental controls and it started acting all buggy like the posts described there. Haven't tried any of the solutions listed yet, as the reports vary.
Waiting to see if I can find or hear of any other reports on this happening before I try any of the methods for 10.5. I'm fairly new to mac and os x... don't want to **** anything up....
Hopefully someone out there has some knowledge to share?...

I've got parental controls on mine, and Dashboard works fine (10.6.1), it crashed once... but that's about it.
