Dashboard Widgets affect battery life ?

I have a lot of widgets in my dashboard and I was wondering if they affect the battery life ?
Some of them are monitoring all the time my Mac ; a good example is iStat.

Open Activity Monitor and select All Processes and then sort by CPU to show you the process(es) running on your Mac and eating away ate your battery life, but Dashboard widgets are probably not one of them (unless poorly coded).
