Does anyone use dashboard a lot? I remember hearing a lot about it a while ago, but don't hear much anymore. Has its functionality been replaced by the touch/iPhone? Is there any way to get the widgets on my desktop rather than having to open dashboard (much like Yahoo widgets)? I like yahoo's option of putting them on your desktop but dashboard's choices.

what are your thoughts on dashboard?

I use it all the time. Although, having it set to a hot corner might lead to some involuntary use along the way. At least I won't forget about it.

I use the weather widgets a lot

I only use the weather widgets and the character map.
iStat nano on my laptop to check battery cycles.

I use it as an informational UI, that is just one key away.
I think, it could be improved, to be more useful though.

This is, what I use it for:

-weather info in several international cities of interest
-time display in all time zones of customers and businesspartners
-scientific calculator (RPN, as my 1989 HP calculator, I used since university)
-calendar widget, that shows date, day, weeknumber (why is this not properly featured in ical.app ???)
-Systran translation widget, to instantly translate even difficult text for instant information into my language (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, ...)
-currency exchange rate widget (updates into EUR do not work since a few weeks - widget dumped)
-stop watch widget, to time procedures, I don't have a stop watch for

These widgets, I use on a daily basis and could do hardly without.
Other widgets, I tested mostly resemble a gaming or trivial pursuit and do seem not very productive to me (rather stealing time, than freeing up).

I really would like, to use the feature, to move a widget from the dashboard to the desktop more. The issue with the implementation like it is now is that widgets are floating and obstructing the view of all items on the desk.
Moving the widget to the desktop and fixing it there would be better (the calendar widget and chronometer widget very much!).

I like it. I use it for weather and daily comics. You can have them on your desktop, but they are on top of all windows.

I have my tram schedules on dashboard so I can always press F4 and see when is the next one leaving. Occasionally I check the weather, too.
