dashboardclient using 392MB of RAM

Didn't notice this before.

What is it and why is it such a hog?

I close Safari, those two items zero out, but DC remains and at the same resource level no less.

and I see that it shows up twice, one 392MB and the other at 13MB

Dashboard is where the widgets run. What widgets do you have running?

I just have these as far as I can tell. (Caffeine has its own separate listing)

In activity monitor select the dashboard client and click inspect, then in the window that opens choose Open Files & Ports and you can see what client is using the memory.
You wil see a line like,
/Widgets/Delivery Status.wdgt/DeliveryStatus.widgetplugin/Contents/MacOS/DeliveryStatus as an example. Just find what is taking all your memory.
