Data Error -36: Is my USB drive dead?

I was trying to transfer some stuff to my USB thumb drive and got a "-36 error" stating that the data could not be transferred. the files themselves, and the hard drive they usually live on, seem fine, fortunately. But does this mean I finally turned my thumb drive into a brick?

Would wiping the thumb drive clean do any good?
