I lost very very important files on my macbook. My question now - I don't have any recovery tool on my mac - is it possible to recover these files?!
For windows I know there is a setup function where you can set back your HD/computer to a specific date..

please help!

Unfortunately unless you have been using Time Machine or another application to create back ups then that data might be lost.

Stop using the computer now as the longer you do use the more the likely that you will over write that section of the disk.

There are some tools available to try and recover the information such as:

testdisk, free and the best in my experince however not for the new user

data rescue II, expensive however has a free demo to show you if it could recover the data

Filesalvage no personal expereince.
