hi guys!
firstly, yes i did a search.:)

so when i go home tonight i will be ordering a mac pro on the apple online store, proposed spec attached.

i currently use a windows machine, as my primary, but have mac minis (for media), an mbp (for mobile work) and a macbook (for uni work) at home already, but i would consider myself a novice but comfortable mac user.

in my windows machine i have a 500gb drive which has a few rather large important files on it.
the drive is about 350GB full. it is a secondary NTFS drive in the windows machine, and does not contain any OS files, just media files i use for work. eg. PSD files, etc.

with my mac pro i will be ordering 1 500GB drive from apple and have ordered 1 1TB drive from elsewhere.
i want to use the existing 500GB apple drive+my new 1TB drive+my old 500GB drive, in a raid 0 set up to make it appear and perform as one 2TB drive.
it will be a s/w raid, as i cant afford a raid card.:(

yes im aware that this set up is not as reliable as say a mirrored or a raid 5 config, however i need the speed billy!:D
when i can afford to do so, i will fill my fourth bay in the mac pro with a 1TB drive for time machine use only (is that even big enough?). this should hopefully give me the reliabilaty angle.

now, my question is how do i intergrate my old ntfs drive into the raid 0 infrastucture without wiping it?
can anyone think of a way? id like to avoid having to purchase an external drive just for this one time use.

i know this sounds like a silly question, but i used to have a gateway pc, a long time ago, and it had this neat data migration with it, for raid situations like this.
is there anything like this on the mac?

also, as i have never really owned a proper mac desktop before, can anyone think of anything else i need to consider?

any questions, please ask!
thanks for any and all help provided guys!:D
