Is it going to be reduced to $20 for the 3G? What is the latest on this? I have a first gen iphone and I am waiting to get the 3G until they reduce this ridiculous data plan to $20. Thx

I'm hoping for this as well. I haven't heard the latest either. I'll get the 3GS either way, but they'll be losing my texting plan if they don't drop it.

thats only 120 a year stop crying

Considering the cost of the basic voice plan, the data plan, the text plan, AND the phone plan, if you if $10/month is a deal-breaker for you, you should seriously ask if any iPhone is in your budget.

its not going back down, because the first gen iPhone was NOT considered a PDA by AT&T (because of its lack of enterprise features and other stuff that CAME WITH it in 1.0). That's why it was only $20. With the 3G, it came with 2.0, had more "PDA-like features", and therefore was considered a PDA by AT&T, which causes the data to be $30.

if AT&T reduces PDA data costs, then the iphone's data will go down.

Then maybe you should focus on paying bills and not having a swanky phone.
:D

no my bills are pied first, but if folks are smart with their money, they can afford cooler things,

Im sorry I forgot the iphone was for only careless rich people :p

Mommy buy you an iphone?

haha nah
i just have the advantage of knowing people high up and getting 50% my phone bill :)

but still 10 dollars a month wouldn't be a deal breaker for me on an iphone if it was id get one of those phones they give out for free

not struggling, saying we are in a downturn, did I say I was on the streets or somethin?

Well it sure as hell didn't stop me... I still ordered one... Its more like att is ripping us of and they know they are :p

You'd gladly pay $20 per month for 250MB, when unlimited (5GB soft cap) is $30 per month?

I'm sorry I don't get your logic. If there were a 250MB plan, it'd need to by $5 per month. I would not in a million years pay $20 per month for 250MB when I can get 5GB/unlimited for $30.

Why pay for something I dont use?

I use about 100mb of data on my iphone each month.....

$20 for 250mb is a very reasonable amount to consider realistic, Ill put my standards low so att can surprise me.

Have fun with 250 mb of data for 20 bucks a month.

All Phone companies are screwing us. Take Rogers for example. Up until recently if you went over your limit on the data plan they would charge you $0.05 per kilobyte! When I got my iPhone 3G a year ago, I subscribed to the 6GB for $30 plan, but they messed up and it didn't get put on my plan for a month. Near the end of that month a woman from the "Rogers High-usage Department" had called me telling me that I had chalked up a bill of $18,000 of Data.....

I almost had a heart attack. Of course they admitted that it was their mistake and ended up wiping it, but there is no way that 360 MB can cost $18,000. Thats bull. Bandwidth is cheap, they rape us with these prices.

Also: I think that rogers has changed it from 5 cent a kilobyte to 3 cents a megabyte now. Its great that they did this, but thats still $30/GB.

Of course, if we didn't buy services from them at these prices, they would have to lower them...
