Took my 13 month of old 24" aluminum iMac to apple today after having the white screen of death disrupt my life. They can see the hard drive but no partitions show up. They need to know what I want to do. I would like to try and save any data possible but I don't know where to take it or who to send it to that isn't going to charge me the price of a new computer.

Any tips or ideas? I can't freakin believe this is happening. Of course, I am a photographer so my life/work is on that thing. I do have back ups of most photos, just not all of my software and unfortunately, not the last newborn session I did. this sucks.

Anybody here been through this?

Uh there are software that do sector and partition repairs such as SpinRite, but that's PC only.

You could try Disk Warrior or Drive Genius 2.
