Hi,

I was advised to change the hard drive of the 13" MBP I currently
use for a newer one. A new SSD was placed instead of a hard
drive. The operating system was installed anew. To make things simpler
for the person who installed the the OS X, he created a new user
name: 'Waldo'. After the installation a friend came by and we dropped
some pictures into the computer, into 'Waldo'. Later that evening I
transfered all the information from the hard drive into the computer.
The computer recognized the former user name, called 'Mary' and
suggested to transfer all of Mary's information while keeping 'Waldo'.
The problem is that I can not find now the photographs that were
dumped into 'Waldo'. How do I find 'Waldo' (within Mary) ??

Thank you, kind regards,

igmolinav : ) !!!

Did you use Migration Assistant for that? If so, it doesn't always work as advertised. The files did not get transferred even though the program said it did.

I had that happen the first time I used it. I use it only to transfer the compute settings and some applications. I had to transfer my data manually by dragging and dropping.

If you google it, you'll find other people with similar experiences.

If I am understanding what you did, the Waldo information will not be in the Mary user area. You should now have a Waldo and a Mary account each with their own information. When you reboot, do you see a login prompt for both Waldo and Mary?

Hi,

Thank you for your messages : ) !!!

No, I don't see a login prompt for both
Waldo and Mary! Should I log out from
Mary and then reboot? That way I find
the option to be prompted to log in to
any of the two accounts?

Once in Waldo, should I take all the
information, (it is not much info, less
than 500 MB), and drag it out of the
account into a USB stick and then
later on just squeeze it into Mary?

I don't recall Mary's password, but I
figure I can reset it, can't I?

Thank you again, kind regards,

Yes... try a reboot and see if both accounts are there.

You can just move things to the /Users/Shared folder where both accounts can see data to move back and forth.

Hi,

Thank you : ) !!!

I tried a reboot and both accounts are there!

I also resetted Mary's password that I had for-
gotten. So that it is the same as Waldo's

I will also reset for both accounts the keychain
password that is not currently the same. That
way I only have one password for the keychain.
The only keychain password I know is the one
for Waldo and it is different to its account password.

Thank you again, kind regards,

igmolinav : ) !!!
