how can you find out the data usage before and after d/l? for example how much data was used to stream a netflix movie or such.

that cant be right, because i just watched a movie and it didnt change and i have downloaded like 6 movie with unlimvideos and it says 59.7mb sent and 1.6gb recieved. it has to be a lot more than that!

Are you using Wifi? The usage screen only shows cellular data used.

has anyone used data usage from the app store?

The data usage only counts data used on the network, not over Wi-Fi. Also I guess it might take a little time for it to update?
