This is the first time, actually first day, that I've ever had a smart phone that doesn't have unlimited data plan.

I'm freaking out!

My phone says I've already used 650 mb of data? I only have 2 gb a month?

Is this common? What's up with that?!

My mom got 800mb over her 200mb plan, I can't figure out why
iTunes Match says its not on for cellular, no apps, just turned airplane off and a few minutes later its slams these messages, no speed test either

Edit- read whole thing before starting... Answer may lie in my last suggestion.

Turn off wifi

Reset cellular data usage

View usage after 10 seconds, and again after 20. Is it climbing?

Yes - start turning off things until it stops. Then you've found the culprit.

Begin with iCloud. Simply turn off contacts, then calendars, then safari... Checking data after each one. After you've turned all those off, if the problem continues, move on to exchange accounts. Disable mail, check. Disable calendars, check.

Oh - and if sent data > received data you may have a mail message stuck in your outbox. Restoring to a new device with IMAP or POP accounts does NOT always restore the outgoing SMTP server password. No password, and outgoing mail gets stuck in a loop on the phone. Hope this helps.

Doesn't matter what I turn off, it's receiving like a meg every few minutes. What could it be?
Only you can find that out. See my advice earlier in this thread. With 10 minutes of your time, it is quite possible to isolate the source.

Thankfully I have unlimited data. Been on wifi most of the day but managed to use 300 MB in 8 hours. Only 1 speed test. Not quite sure how it happened. But wow. Typical monthly data usage is 750MB.

I've used over a gigabyte of data in under 12 hours...

Thats what I mean!!!

I have had my 4S since this time last year, and I used a TOTAL combined 22GB of data in those 12 months? -- And I use my phone ALOT.

I downloaded about.. 30 320kb/sec songs from Spotify, that alone was about 250mb. I don't have Wi-Fi, so I downloaded all my apps and stuff from iCloud.

I'd find my usage around normal.
