This seems like a crazy amount of data to be written in only 12 days. Does anyone know what could be going on?

And look for what?

I have been doing some more reading on kernel_task and it appears what you are seeing can be related to maybe an app that is doing a lot of writing to the disk. If you do any downloads it goes through the kernel_task from what I understand. Have you downloaded a lot of files or large files?

Interesting. Would that count data written to external drives?
