I am wondering if anyone can help me out.

A few months ago I bought a macbook and I am looking for a free database program to use for some of the bookwork I do.

If anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

FileMaker Pro might be over kill but you could try it.
There is also Bento.

mysql is free but you will have to provide all the front end work.

There is also Bento, just released recently from FileMaker. I think it only costs about $50. Easy to use, easy to set up. Grab an eval copy and try it out.

Are you proficient in sql? I think most of the free programs require you to do qeuries and stuff

I would try MySQL too. Pretty easy install and you can write a custom PHP frontend. Cheap too as it's all free.
