I'm looking for a free databasing software for my iMac that will allow me to input all of my DVDs and Blu Rays. Is there anything out there that someone could recommend?

Don't know of anything for free, but you could use something like Bento to create a home database.

I'm actually using working on my work programming skills by creating a DVD library using SQL and ASP.NET (C#)...

Mmm,

pen and paper ?

Excel / Numbers ?

Bento ?

fileMaker ?

MySQL ?

There's even a large selection of shareware DVD library databases available to find on the web. Some are in Access, many in Excel, some in FileMaker.

Here are two that will get you started:

Used in the past:
http://www.invelos.com/

Currently using:

I am actually using the following from collectorz

movie
music
comic book

I love there software. Very easy to use and very easy to setup. You can customize the look and feel of the viewer also if you are familiar with css. I don't use the scanner all of my stuff was hand done but it is a nice little piece of software. They also have an iPhone version so you can take your collection on the go. No viewing but you can see what you have etc.

Can't say enough about them.

Check out DVD Hunter

Free, works great, sync with iPhone client that is also free.

Are you referring to a specific software? I've seen some great solutions on here but before I make a purchase, I was still looking for a free one.

I just can't believe there's not a decent one available through a web browser, if it could tap into imdb and something like amazon to allow users to easily build their databases without having to key all the related data / actors / director(s), etc. Market-research would love this sort of thing.
