'Date Added' no longer works for new files

When I "list" files in a folder in Finder, all the files except for those I put in there in the last few days show the "Date Added" to the folder. I haven't changed any settings I'm aware of, "Date Added" is still checked in the Finder "view" setter, but now files I download or add to the folder no longer show
the "Date Added."

Suggestions to get "Date Added" back?
