Date of Manufacture

Hello. I have a MacBook Pro as seen in my signature. I bought it brand new from Best Buy, so the serial number should still be the original. Everything I have run the serial number through so far has stated that my computer was made in 2000. This is of course extremely unlikely. Does anyone have any insight into this? It's not like I need to know, just curious. Thank you!

Probably just a bug in the coconut program. Is it the latest version?

Well, I just downloaded it today so I am presuming it is. My serial starts with W8006, and if I know how to read it correctly then Coconut and chipmunk.nl are correct. This has fascinated me ever since I found out what my serial number was. Thanks for your insight, and I hope to have more as well.

Out of curiosity, do you have coconutBattery installed? If you do, what does cB say the age of your mac is?

I do indeed have coconutBattery installed.

I have the same thing happen, coconut identity says my MBP was made in 2000
but coconut battery gets it right and says my mac was made 5 weeks ago
