I'm very new to MacBook Pro. Prior to buying the MacBook I used a windows laptop for editing video for work.

I used cyberlink Power Director for this editing. As I needed to show the time and date on the edited version of my project, I used a program called super DVD date to stamp the time and date.

Now I have changed over to MacBook Pro I am going to try imovie for the editing.

Can some tell me is there is a mac based program that I can stamp the date and time on my video

You can use iMovie 10/11 to put a date stamp on your videos. Go to the "Titles" tab and there should be a title you can use called Date/Time.
