My daughter LOVES her iPad Mini! She ran the battery down the other day and so I popped it on to charge overnight. The next day it hadn't charged. Pressing the home button shows the depleted battery graphic. If I unplug the lightening cable it the shows the graphic prompting you to plug it in, so it IS detecting the cable.

Im out of ideas and Im really short on time at the moment, can anyone help?

Try different cable.

Are you charging from a power outlet instead of a computer? If not, try power outlet.

Try holding both power and home buttons together until iPad shuts off, then try plugging in again.

Check the cable end for corrosion. IIRC, MacRumors had posted a story where the lightning connectors over time become pitted and corroded. It doesn't affect every cable but some. Supposedly Apple is replacing those free of charge.
