I know this **** has probably been asked 1000 times, but I wanted some advice for day one.

The fact that online orders are just beforehand is such a mindf*ck - do I risk not getting one and then coming back and having shipments delayed until the next election? Now pre-orders (normal orders?) begin midnight PST, but is this 5pm shenanigans PST or local time? I've read conflicting reports and don't want to show up late.

I live in Baltimore so 5pm becoming 2pm would be quite the Debby downer.

Last question. Are covers going to be rolled out at 5 or will they be available that day? I don't want to wait in line for hours only to have covers sold out.

Thanks for all the help!

5PM local time. Otherwise, Apple would have clarified EST or PST.

Smart Covers will go on sale at the same time with iPad 2's, which is 5PM local time.

:)
[EDIT] I'll just stay quiet until I have my facts straight... lol

Pretty sure it was clarified to be 5PM PST. I know that east coasters won't be able to order the iPad until 3AM PST online and I'm pretty sure the launch in stores will also be based on this time pattern as well...

That doesn't contradict PBF. I know that Online orders go live at 5pm PST but are the in-store releases local time or PST?

I thought there were no pre orders (at least so far) and the online ordering at 12:01am PST on Friday is just that - online orders that will be shipped out, not ones that you can pick up in store that afternoon. Of course, I hope I am wrong and that you can do pre orders for store pick up then too.

I stand corrected. Replace all "pre-orders" with "orders" in my posts.
