Thanks! I went ahead and bought it a while ago - there's not exactly much to lose at that price!
It's actually turned out rather good once I get past the run-in period. At first it sounded very harsh, ripe, boomy and vague. Once I'd run it in a bit, and given it a chance to breathe in a larger room, it's actually turned out fantastic. I've used it for an outdoor jazz gig (upright bass with pickups, electric bass and synth, as well as background music) and it did a great job, and produced a surprising amount of noise given it's size, weight and cost.
In smaller venues it's turned out to be a little too top-heavy. It does have bit of a peak towards the top of it's crossover frequency (100 Hz) which gives it quite a bit of punch in larger spaces, but just ends up making it sound overpowering in small spaces.
In large indoor spaces though, it's very good. Musical, controlled and powerful. Sure I've heard d&b subs which are the same size and go louder and deeper, but for it's price, it's honestly incredibly useable. The plan at the moment is to get three more, and an infra-sub for the frequencies the dB can't reach.
