Is there a way to view and / or edit .dbf files on Mac? I downloaded a file, extracted it, and got many .dbf files.

I tried it, but it didn't work... I couldn't even import the file. The file was .rar, I believe, I extracted it using the RAR Expander (Unrarx didn't work), and I got .dbf files. I don't know how to incorporate the .dbf files into a game (the .dbf files form a patch for the game).

Then maybe they are meant to replace other dbf files somewhere in the game's files.

The game probably uses dbf files for its data. In order to patch it, you'll need to replace those dbf files with your new ones.

How do I do that? I cannot open the .dbf files through the game... And there are many .dbf files.

You will not open them, you will drag and drop them into the Finder folders and replace the ones currently there.

What game is it?

I only have the game application, and no folders with other .dbf files. By the way, it's NBA Live 07.

Right click on it, then Show Package Contents ... look around for the dbf files.

OK, now where do I drop the files? There is Frameworks folder (with .dylib), MacOS and Resources. There aren't any .dbf files. Can I add the patch into the contents folder? But how would I access the patch later?

Not there.

Look in the Resources folder. I don't have this game, so I can't tell you exactly. Look in every folder until you find dbf files with the same names. Drop them in that folder.

I can't find .dbf files elsewhere. I can find .dll, .exe, .dylib and .rar. So, can I just put the patch folder under "contents"? How would I access it then?

Is the .rar file you found named the same as the one you downloaded?

Ohhh, I found .dbf files under database folder in resources, preferences, c_drive, documents and settings, common files, database, and the accessories. Should I just drop them there? I don't want to delete other ones (the patch is an add-on to the game).

Do I need to save the game or the contents once the folder is dropped?

Since it is an add-on, it might break something ... Are you able to reinstall the game if it doesn't work anymore?
