I'm trying to determine if the problem with G4 12" powerbook is with the DC-in board or the DC to DC. the Power adaptor lights up (only green, and not all the way in), but the computer does not charge the battery or boot up. Laptop will run on a charged battery, so it's somewhere in the power pathway.

any ideas of where in the process it's bad?

If the cord lights up green, it obviously has power from the wall.

It doesn't go in all the way? That sounds like a problem. Is it the original power adapter?

Power adaptor OK

Yea, i have tried two different power adaptors, and they work fine...it's in the computer itself. either the DC-in board is shorting out or the DC to DC is not working. but getting power to the laptop is OK.
