Coming from a mid-2011 iMac, I was really excited about the potential updates to the screen when I first read rumors about the move from white LED to the red-green phosphor. As a photographer, I hoped/expected that would mean coming closer to the full Adobe RGB color space.

Looks like the new Retina 5K iMac boasts 100% DCI-P3. A quick check shows that would equal 93.6% of Adobe RGB. Million dollar question is how well these new screens will profile.

Has anyone seen reviews focusing on the new panels or have any thoughts about this?

Thanks,

E

While DCI P3 may be 93.6% of Adobe RGB, Adobe RGB is only 86.98% of DCI P3. Also, we do not yet know how the new iMac displays perform against Adobe RGB gamut (in theory, it could be more than 93.6%), so I wouldn't sweat it until details are released.
