Anyone have a detailed, step by step process for completely deactivating an old iPhone that is to be traded into the carrier?

Sign out of iCloud.
remove SIM card.
reset all settings.
if using eSIM make sure you transfer that first. Probably before iCloud. I would then remove that cellular plan.
