For the past two weeks or so my MBP Battery Status bar has been telling me that it was dying and I needed to replace it. I could only use my MBP when it was being powered by the wall charger. I finally got around to ordering a new one, and it will be here Thursday.

This may seem like a dumb question but tonight, while plugged into the wall my MBP just died and wouldn't power back up no matter what I did and I tried everything I could think of. I know this may sound stupid but I just wanted to make sure that eventually my battery would die like this and hopefully it isn't anything worse.

Thanks in advance!

There is a slim possibility that what happened tonight was caused by a dying battery. It is likely something else altogether.

It is pretty uncommon for a Mac not to boot because the battery has failed. I have seen it, but it doesn't happen often.
